Antisemitism, The Israel-Hamas War, and Distorting the Law of Genocide: A Perfect Storm
Menachem Z. Rosensaft, Adjunct Professor of Law at Cornell Law School, Lecturer in Law at Columbia Law School, and a longtime activist for Holocaust and genocide remembrance, presented this lecture at Cornell on Feb 12, 2024. He discusses the global surge in antisemitism both before and after the savage Hamas terrorist attack on Israeli civilians on October 7, 2023, the misuse of the law of genocide before the International Court of Justice, and why a two-state solution is the only viable outcome for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This is the first in the series “Antisemitism and Islamophobia Examined.” The College of Arts & Sciences has partnered with the Office of the Provost and departments and programs across Cornell University to bring four leading academics to campus in the Spring 2024 semester to explore the history of these forms of prejudice, examine the impact on Jews and Muslims in America today, and map the legal landscape for addressing these issues.
